Description

The Southern Lit Alliance provides education enrichment programs for students and teachers in the Chattanooga community. The biennial Celebration of Southern Literature has been a keynote event for writers and lovers of literature since 1981. It is our largest event, bringing together over 1,000 guests every other April to hear acclaimed authors.

It sponsors outreach programs including Writers in classrooms, Young Southern Student writers and Creative writing workshops for teachers.


Responsibilities

We welcome volunteers for

  • The Celebration of Southern Literature (CSL)- April 14- 16; help at registration tables, assist bookseller; ages 18 and up
  • Young Student Writers Awards- hand out programs, assist with seating ( Tuesday evening in April)
  • Shadow Wrtiers- college juniors and seniors majoring in English ( April 14-18)
