Erlanger is an academic medical center associated with the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga. It runs a summer program for teenagers. During the school year, they do not have teen volunteers. The program, called VolunTEENS involves around 150 local high school students between the ages of 15 and 18.
Both clinical and non-clinical areas are open to the VolunTEENS, giving them a chance to help others, to see what a hospital is all about, and, for many, to confirm their aspirations to pursue a career in medicine
The program currently runs from June through July and is highly competitive. Applications required (available in March 2015).
